Dear Reader, After four decades of helping schools embrace project-based learning, I’ve come to realize that the greatest challenge many educators face is not simply doing projects—but designing high-quality, meaningful ones that are more than just "cute." Truly great PBL is intellectually rigorous, deeply rooted in powerful ideas, and able to withstand scrutiny. Even more challenging is sustaining that kind of project-based learning over time. I call these supercharged PBL experiences Learning Adventures. What's a Learning Adventure?Learning Adventures is an approach to teaching and curriculum design that elevates project-based learning by integrating modern tools, computational technology, and contemporary pedagogy. Join fellow educators on a professional learning journey as we explore how to create the conditions necessary for authentic knowledge construction in today’s classrooms. To realize the full benefits of PBL in the 21st century, we need new metaphors for designing, planning, and implementing learning experiences. This workshop will kickstart that rethinking process. What makes the Learning Adventures approach unique is its celebration of surprise, serendipity, deep connections, and fascinating phenomena. The most powerful Learning Adventures are interdisciplinary, open-ended, and adaptable to a wide range of ages and learning contexts. This workshop is designed to help teachers and curriculum leaders make project-based learning the main course—not just the dessert served after a plate of academic “asparagus.” Discover how literature, computation, art, science, history, data science, robotics, and making can come together to supercharge any classroom with Learning Adventures. Teachers of any subject or grade level, curriculum directors, and administrators are all welcome. Team discounts are available. Learn more about this Learning Adventures Workshop here. Special thanks to Scott Perloff and my friends at Brentwood School for hosting this event! Learning Adventures
